If you are in the PacNW (Seattle area) and are interested in this MMI, please PM me ASAP for a one time one-off deal.
Thanks

Can this interface be used with NBT? (The non Evo I mean) Are you planing to release an interface that allows Wireless CarPlay, like the official BMW one does? I think that would be perfect! Thanks |

I am so ready to pull the trigger if they can make it work full screen, that 1/3 screen lost just looks.. bad.
Anyhow, my car came with the regular 6.5 small screen, I upgraded it to a 8.8 screen. It shouldn't matter right? |

https://www.bimmer-tech.net/compatib...ay-activation/ I would think it detects the resolution of the screen automatically. |

Just waiting for them to implement full screen and its a go. Is there a mic that needs to be installed, or it would piggy back off the stock car mic? |

Also anyone here have this installed running Waze? I am wondering how easy / hard is it to use without touch screen controls, aka how do would you actually interact with touch buttons such as change / refresh route, report poo poo, etc. |

I’m using Waze on it and it’s great. Between Waze, Apple and Google, the Waze interface is the easiest to work with. Reporting is simplified so you use the idrive controller to press the report button, it gives a shorter list of things to report from there on.
On the screen res question. There are 4 dip switches on the box, I’m pretty sure these set the screen res but I’d confirm the box will work with the aftermarket upgrade. |

Its not an aftermarket display btw, is just the bigger OEM display. Shouldn't be a issue i think i have seen videos using it. |

grahamrb,
I am not sure if you still need this info, but I just did exactly what you are asking and posted a few pictures in an imgur album. Essentially I pried the console molding rime off, and removed 3 screws (one is underneath the sport mode buttons nearby the driver) to remove the entire console. There are three connections to the car that must be carefully removed. Once removed, it is tricky but you can guide the wires behind the headunit, down and out of a hole nearby where the cigarette lighter rests. You need to be careful to not impede the cigarette lighter or the console will not rest in place. This seems trivial but it really comes down to how much slack you've given yourself - if it's a super tight reach you may consider a longer cable. here's the imgur album below: View post on imgur.com |

If it's full screen you want just order the Unichip. I don't understand why people are holding out for this hardware. Unichip is great and is available now!

Unichip does not use the factory microphone, and many, including myself see this as a deal breaker. Plus, their support sucks.
