If Zanity cares about his car then it is special. If it specifically is (or cars in general) special to him, any long term companion should definitely know that about him.
My wife came from a family that was not caring about cars, and would just destroy them in the name of convenience or utility. This was corrected with an e30 automatic, followed by an e53 (both nice). Now she understands, though she'd still rather go to a long movie than a 3 hour car show.
