Best Downpipe For B58

I've heard Wagner and ER are really good

Looking for one that's gonna give me the most aggressive sound for my 340i

Car is completely stock right now, just want to match it with my oem non m performance exhaust with bm3 tune(in near future) and MAYBE a muffler delete(will have to see how the dp and tune sound first)

What do you guys think I should get?

Thnx!

I installed the CG DS-1 about a month ago and I'm loving it. I have stock intake and exhaust and I love the sound. I prefer an understated growl and it is perfect. My tune has cold start delete so I can't comment on what that sounds like. In comfort mode it is fairly quiet but more aggressive than stock. In sport it sounds great. If you are looking for more noise go catless or do resonator delete. I like catted. I was going for power and throttle response more than noise. Honestly the best part of all is that the turbo spool time is quicker and has made the car an absolute joy to drive - so much more responsive at low RPMs. No CEL, no O2 spacers needed.

On a stock car CG Precision since it does not throw a CEL

On a tuned car Wagner, VRSF or Evolution Racewerks. Check the reviews for all three and get the one you like the most

I just ordered a ER catted from Mike. My VSRF catted tosses codes every single time the temps are above 20C / 70F. Works in the morning, commute home I get a lower O2 CEL. X-ph is always amazing to deal with.

Price is not an issue? Akrapovic! You're not going to find a lot of reviews because it's expensive but they are the best in the world with exhaust components.

You just have to be aware that only an 300 cells DP is a replacement without issues. The 200 cell DP requires mods to prevent the CEL. Not sure if you get HJS in the US but they meet German regulations and this means a lot
So their 300 cell DP works definetly without issues.

Thanks. I was thinking that might be the case (it is running BM3 so the fix is simple at the end). VSRF does run a larger cat than ER (5" vs 4") as well.

ER did go in insanely easy compared to VSRF though. I pulled in with a hot car, spent 15 minutes removing the airbox, unhooking O2, and putting it on stands. Went for a beer and dinner, and it took about an hour to pull the old one out and insert the ER one. Longest time was pulling the old one out of the midpipe (should have did that before busting loose the v-clamp).

We also offer the Wagner downpipe with 300 CEL HJS Cats which has all the benefits of the HJS pipe for a cheaper price

Reviving a very old thread rather than starting a new one (because search function!)

Anyway, this question is mainly for mike@x-ph.com

I saw a new catted downpipe on your website from ARM. It's 6" (vs 4.5" like most others) and only ~$120 more than CTS and MAD. Any reason to go with this one (vs CTS or MAD)? If there's no benefit of the 6" ARM, do you prefer CTS or MAD for a 4.5" version? They're similar priced so cost isn't an issue.

I'm currently at BM3 Stage1 93oct in my B58 and don't plan on going any further than BM3 Stage 2+ 93oct. I live in Indiana without emissions inspection so CELs is not a concern, but I do prefer catted (my N55 was catless and the smell was sort of annoying).

I also noticed that you don't have VRSF on there anymore. Why not?

Thanks!

it dont see a reason to go with a 6" downpipe especially in your case, saving $120 and going with the CTS or MAD is the better option.
