There is a video for the install of the Bavsound speaker Upgrade on the forums and on youtube. Just stick to this for door panel and tweeter trim removal.
From there its only 3 screws for the mirror and one connector.

BTW: I've bought my F80 mirrors (Version without cameras and lane assist) for EUR 750.00 used on german eBay. The seller has lots of them for sale.

This is the Bavsound install video, @ 7:00 min you see the 3 screws and the connector of the mirror:

I think its against the forum rules to post eBay links here.
Just go to ebay.de and search for 'BMW F80 Aussenspiegel'. Just checked, he has none for sale at the moment.

The part no. for the foam seals between car and mirror base you'll need are:
51338062243 left
51338062244 right

Please Note: The above mentioned is for F30/F31 to F80 M3 mirrors only!
F32/F33/F36 uses F82 M4 mirrors and different seals. F34 has unique mirrors, so no idea if or which M-mirror will fit!

Depends on which version of the mirror you purchase and which options your car has.
There are many different versions of the mirrors. It differs between:
- Shadowline or Satin Gloss Aluminum (mirror base gloss black) (Yes/No)
Then:
- Dimming/Folding mirrors (Yes/No)
- Lane Assist (Yes/No)
- Surround view (Yes/No)

So you have to make sure you're getting the right part.
Upgrades are possible, for e.g. your car does't have dimming/folding mirrors but the F80 mirrors have. If so, coding will be necessary or in some cases modifications of the wiring/connectors.

For those wanting to know about the folding function of the M3/M4 mirrors: They don't fold in as far as the F30 mirrors, due to their design.
Short video of my F80 mirrors unfolding on my F31:

Anyone seriously considering this:

I (and several others) did this on a 135i and I know because at least one of the other guys went through this the hard way...

If you plan on buying them from a country other than your own, ensure that they have the steering wheel on the same side you do. The mirrors are LHD/RHD specific - and not just the glass or behaviour.

The actual angles of the housings is different.

There seem to be some options on flea bay for simply replacing the covers with an f80 M style cover. Anyone done this? Trying to hunt down some pictures of how it would look on a mineral grey F30

I’ve got the new mirrors and I took the door card off to check the electric motors and dimming were working. There’s a triangular foam moulding behind the tweeter which covers the three mirror screws, is this the one I need to replace? If so, why?

Sorry if there’s another one that’s external but I ran out of time and I want to make sure I’ve got all the parts I need (mirrors came without glass) before I do the swap.

My bad

I’d been searching on the mirrors parts diagram. I’ve now found the door trim parts diagram and have seen the part you’re referring to.

Those seals I mentioned are for the outside, between mirror base and door.
They have a F80 M3 specific parts no., so they have to be different from F30.
Why? You'd have to ask BMW.
But not worth taking a risk, as they are inexpensive.

I replaced on my F30. Ordered the foam inserts but then while installing, compared and just couldn’t see the reasoning for needing this.

Even asked a BMW Shop Foreman about it. He told me he couldn’t see where it would make a difference either after showing it to him.

Installed with existing F30 foam. Returned the F80 foam for money back. Regardless, at about $80 MSRP USD iirc, they certainly are not the most expensive piece of the install.

No negatives after a year that I can ascertain.

I would also note that the price list in € above is significantly cheaper than USA MSRP prices.

Pricing all the individual parts on a set of F30 mirrors (without glass or cf mirror caps) with all the electronic options comes out around $3800 USD MSRP.

I just did this retrofit and the 3 bolt pattern from my mirrors do not line up with my door. I compared it to my 2012 f30 and the bottom one that is closest to the hood was a tad bit longer. I could’ve drilled the hole larger but decided to just use two bolts and it looks to seal just fine. I might go back and put the 3rd bolt in but I don’t feel like making any permanent changes when I want to part out.
