F38 brake pads and rotors replacement?

***title - its an F36, not an F38***

Hi guys!

New to bimmer and new to owning a BMW (previously been in VAGs)

Anyway, bought a 430 f36 '16 demo.
it now has ~26,000 kms on the odo, and i've been warned that the front brake pads need replacing by iDrive.

I think that 26,000 is a little premature? Its only used for commuting and some highway driving.

Anyway, spoke to my local non-bmw mechanic and he said to source the pads and if theres a lip on the edge of the rotor you should replace them too.

Is this the case?

There seems to be ~0.75mm lip edge, and about 4mm remaining on the pads. the camera is angled a little but you can see.

They are standard rotors and pads (not msport brakes).

Any suggestions regarding:

1) should i replace the rotors too?
2) is 26,000km premature?
3) recommended brands for replacements for longer lasting pads/ rotors available in Australia? or should I stick with OEM? performance wise they seemed okay - but 26,000 seems short, especially with the rotor lip.

My previous EOS lasted about 70,000 before needing the rotors replaced.

I was recommended to source the parts from Sydney Wide European Autos - and they said, IIRC Hella Pagid as the OEM replacement.

EDIT: I've since read that the sensor kicks in at 50% wear and that it will alert me again when its at 90%. I can't see the middle wear mark, but are these pads still good for a while and just keep an eye on them?

thanks for your help!

26000km is premature. If it is a demo, did you buy from a dealer? warranty?

I would replace the rotors because of the lips.

All rotors develop lips, it's where the pad doesn't contact the rotor. Replacement isn't required, they can just be resurfaced if the rotor thickness is within spec. If the dealer has a rotor lathe that's what he'll probably do. DIY you can get the rotors resurfaced at a local auto parts supply store that has a lathe, but it's a PITA to get them to and from unless you have a second vehicle.
Premature pad wear is usually caused by improper lubrication of the pads and rails when installed.

You have to check the inner pad, as that's where the sensor is. The outer can look fine while the inner is toast.

yeah so the inner pads were a little more worn.
ended up replacing them+ sensor.
multiple people i've spoken to said that 26/27k is far too premature.

BMW of course wouldn't play ball in covering it.

Now though, even with OEM pads/sensors, the iDrive still says that the pads need replacing. Will look online for ways to reset it.

Hopefully I dont need to go to a dealer / get ODB fob to reset it.

cheers
