Any ideas
To push the Idrive wheel for select instead of clicking left. Tried but no luck
I'm having the same issues.

Hello, in settings-camera/video there is option to enable or disable parking lines. Would be anybody so kind to chceck if this option works for him? Because I need to disable the green dynamic parking lines, but it do not work for me, the parking lines are still present. Thank You!

Gang: Ive jumped into the fray. I think I know what Im up against & what I am & am not getting. I bought the 7.1 from AVIN. It is my belief you should buy from them because:

1. There is only one real factory/developer behind all of these similar units. This has essentially been proven through tear downs.

2. AVIN being from what I can tell the largest reseller of this product will likely have the best priority with that factory & developmer team.

3. AVIN has provided good post sale service & has been honest w/ me on chat about what is good (screen) and bad (audio) about the product.

They have confirmed a 8.1 release in Jan/Feb, but it will be the same board & memory with only a new CPU & 8.1. They claim it may be faster w/ apps, but wont address audio (a outcome of the overall HW design & the audio profile/hw they use on the board) & may be less stable. They arent bullish on it.

Im going into this with the intent of this being a screen upgrade for my normal CIC use. If I get ANY utility out of the android side thats a bonus but Im not counting on it. Id like to have google maps / waze work out, but Im not counting on it.

Hows that for low expectations lol. but beats buying a new $45K car or doing the NBT EVO $3K retrofit when that cannot provide live traffic or android auto either. Ill keep all posted on my experience. GREAT info & data in this thread, including audio enhancement solutions for the aux line. We will see soon! Thank you.

So what determines if you need to run the aux or not?
I kinda want it, but i don't want to pull up the center console to run the aux cable.

Routing to center console is pretty easy. Took me less than 15min including reverse engineering path pack to radio/climate control area.

With easy connect, mirrorlink is not in full screen. Are you able to do full screen with another app?

I have just connected an aftermarket reversing camera using the 2.4GHz transmitter / receiver pair generally available. It passes the video signal fine.

However, I have the problem in that the image only stays for about 7 seconds then there is no signal. Have to turn off the ignition and restart to get image to display again. The receiver is powered by the canbus trigger on the HU and the transmitter is powered by the reverse light.

I'm guessing there is some sort of switch off after the initial 7 secs but would have thought this would happen with a wired setup too.

Anyone else have this setup?

Try to connect the receiver to another 12v supply rather than the canbus trigger of the unit. Just for the sake of diagnosis.

Hi Guys,

I have a few questions about my unit:
- Can you do anything about the static noise coming from the audio system?
- Can you resolve the brightness issue? If you turn the light switch in any position the system dims the display to 75%.
- Can you change the incoming call ringtone?

Thanks

After a bit of research it appears the supply to the reversing lights can't supply the 12v to the camera. It needs a separate clean supply using the reversing light as a trigger only to a relay.

So the reverse light powers the relay coil and switches through a clean 12v to the camera.

Only issue now is finding a clean supply. Looks like I'll be taking it from the battery. Still easier than running the cable the length of the car.

No, works fine. Would appear many people wire up camera this way.

Wire from reverse light to one side of relay coil, other side to GND.
Fresh 12v supply to one side of relay normally open switch, other side to camera 12v input.

Reverse light triggers relay to operate and 12v gets passed to camera. Hardest part is getting the 12v to the relay as nothing available in the boot lid.

HeadUnit Reloaded essentially emulate an Android Auto compatible headunit so Android Auto on your phone thinks that you are connecting to one and thus the Android Auto UI shows up on the screen. I had it working after emailing the author of the app to fix the screen stretching problem due to our ultra wide screen aspect ratio.
Daxtor, I know your post was awhile ago, but what was the "fix" for the screen ration with the Avin unit and using HeadUnit Reloaded?

With the Avin back up camera do you get the dynamic reversing lines like the oem one or are the lines static?

Can anyone post a pic or video of their screen showing the back up camera in action?

Many thanks.

Hi,

yes you get the dynamic reversing lines, here is how it looks:

The red curves and the green grid / squares are the dynamic lines coming from the car, and the green / yellow / red lines are the static lines from the aftermarket camera.

So apparently something happened to my unit last night, it gets stuck at the BMW connected drive loading screen and won't move further, it's the 4.4 version 8.8" for the E60, is there any way to go into recovery mode? I tried every combination of RST+power button or pressing and holding individually and nothing works, if I put the car into reverse the PDC works just fine, but I can't even reach the android screen, it just sits at bmw connected drive, I've heard there is a tool that can create a bootable sd card and a image for it but avin hasn't replied to my mail so far. Any help would be great as this is driving me insane, how is it possible to make something like this without a built in failsafe in case this happens and you need to go into manual recovery mode. Last time I ever buy something like this
