Also, there is no LED anywhere near the trim where my adapter cable mod would work.

But you can always exchange your flat black trim piece with the gloss-black trim piece from the LCI 1-and 2 series. Makes a big difference, too.

Hi thanks,

I have the LCI the gloss black is nice!!!

The AC Control Piece (non-LCI) is $700 USD. Can't find a price/PN for the LCI version yet but I don't imagine it will be much cheaper...

WOW. Seems awfully expensive for that it is. Oh well, I can scratch that off my list of potential mods! On to the next one then.

Guys I tried fitting the white control panel from my friend's lci to see if it works. Apparently it doesn't work plug and play and will probably need something more.

It sure does, as the LCI controls change colour depending on light conditions.
Thus it needs a signal, which pre LCI cars don't have at the control panel.

This should come as standard and is selected via idrive between classic & sport

What do you mean its too gentle? You mean the alcantara is not robust enough to stand up to daily use?

No, it is not Standard.
To my knowledge only Sportline, M-Sport and Luxury Line feature the white.
I don't know if this can be coded on other cars or if it involves Hardware changes.

Pardon my bad phone quality. Great mod and thanks to Dante and BMW who made it possible as a direct replacement so we can refresh our interior.

Ac Trim Parts

Hi Dante,

I'm looking to purchase the LCI AC Trim, and saw this post from you.
Some good tips I must say.

Not sure if you have these parts still available.

I am in AU.

Thanks.

Anyone know if you can swap the LED ring into the original non LCI part? I want to do this mod but my F30 has aluminum w/red stripe sport trim.. Nothing in my car is piano black so Id love to keep the matte piece i have now but add the subtle glow.

No, not unless your ready to hack up your old trim part and dremel the hell out of it. That also was my first idea, but as soon as I saw the differences I went for the easy route!
