I'm bored with my 435i ZHP
I am bored with the car. I got into kart racing and now I am bored with my ZHP. I am thinking of selling it. I think for a replacement I just need a car to go something "slow" and with many less nannies. I am think a E36 M3 or a 98-00 M roadster.

E46. I have a 2001 330Ci. Drive it more than my F30 335i

F30 328d. Slow, but great fuel mileage. You'll find yourself driving just to get better fuel mileage rather than just as fast as possible...

This is a severely unproductive thread. OP should state their intended budget and needs. Everything else is just throwing out random cars to potentially own. I'm seeing $5k cars (Miata NA or NB), $10k cars (e36 M3), up to $55-65k cars (1M, Cayman S, Lotus, etc.).
If the OP is considering an e36 M3 or 98-00 M Roadster, my guess is their budget is $8k-17k unless they are considering an extremely low mileage example.

I'd say don't get something too close to what you have now. Otherwise there'd be no point in getting rid of the 4 series. E36 M3, although slower, is too similar.
If I were you, I'd get a semi-sporty but roomy and comfortable and modern front wheel drive. NEW Mazda 6 seems to be perfect for that role. Then on weekends you can do your go kart thing. Unless this whole thing is because the 4-Series is too heavy on your wallet. Then yeah, get another sporty used BMW.
