Extra Sound proofing
Anyone added extra sound deadening to the doors? I want to reduce the tyre roar, not bad but just want it quieter. I intend using dynomat type stuff inside the door and also adding a thin layer of closed cell foam in-between the door card and the door. Any idea how think I can go?? Was thinking 5mm for greatest effect but fear that will be too thick and may go for 3mm.
Anyone tried it??

Yeah might just order up some 3mm, I reckon 5mm will end up causing issues with door trim fitting

I've installed sound deadening on the interior of all of my door panels. I recall there being plenty of clearance as long as you are not installing the material right next to the plastic posts that hold the door on. Let me know if you want any pointers on getting the panels off.

How thick foam did you use?? I will be ordering the foam before weeks end
Yeah not looked at removing the door trim yet. I have all that plastic tools already. I guess its just a case of removing some hidden screw then prising the door card off. Anything too look out and any particularly fragile parts?

I installed Bavsound sound deadening when I installed speakers. I believe it is similar to dynamat 3mm. I did not install over the entire panel, I did sections, in particular the seams in the door cards for vibration dampening. Look on YouTube for bavsound f10 speaker install, they give good directions on how to remove door panels and will give you a good idea of what is underneath. The cups behind the door handle are much harder to get off from how they make it seem. There is a trick to them. It's also best to buy extra plastic pegs for the door panels as it is easy to break one and they are easy and cheap to replace. Their trim removal instructions were spot on. If you have rear sunshades you must remove them prior to door panel removal.

When prying off door panels I recommend starting at the bottom near one of the plastic pegs. It can take a lot of force to separate it and if you deform or ding the panel you don't want to do it on the side where you can see it. Once you have one out use your fingers to pull out the rest.
