bootmod3: Direct ENET cable support for iOS/Android (BETA)

Hey guys,
Wanted to share a quick announcement on the upcoming app/system update. Public beta of the new app with the embedded OBD Agent starting soon. This version of the app will allow for a direct cable connection of the ENET cable to your iOS device (iPhone, iPad).

We’re just waiting on Apple to approve the beta build for testing and do some test runs internally with it and we’ll start adding in external/public testers.

To test with us you need to have a bm3 license already, ENET cable and an ethernet to lightning adapter (adapter to connect ethernet end of the ENET cable to your iPhone/iPad).

So I am looking to order the BM3 license. It notes I do not need the OBD Agent but it is nice to have since I do not need to carry my laptop around. But even with the OBD Agent, there's still a lot of wiring correct?

But what I am getting from this thread, you guys are making an app that will communicate with the car directly? Or someone paint a picture for me. Sorry, completely new to all of this.

yes, it will connect directly from phone to car. although I'm sure at least one feature, like altering the base map for self tuning, will still need to be done through the laptop.

I do not have a BM3 license however I do have the adapter and multiple iOS devices (iphone XS Max, iPhone 8, iPad 6th gen, iPad Pro 3rd gen). My current tune is a JB4.

For the right discount I believe I could be an asset in your beta testing!

LOL!! Although there are a few vendors offering discounts, I think they have it covered, literally HUNDREDS of people willing to BETA...including myself .

I understand your point. However per the beta test I have multiple Apple devices and the adapters right now. So as a tech savvy individual I can see the value of having someone that can test on 4+ devices that I’m sure the developers want feedback on.

At the end of the day it does not hurt to ask.

shouldn't be long now, the app is already done and I'm sure they tested it with a smaller group. now is the time to test more and work out any bugs or kinks, otherwise it's going to be v7.0 all over again

I just read the update on their facebook post in Bootmod3 Enthusiast. I just received an email with my BM3 license over the weekend, then later this week I get my Enet cable. Definitely look forward to this!

Pleasure to announce public beta of the iOS app update with support for a direct ENET connection. Closed beta has gone really great so far and for anyone else that’d like to try this version of the app with an ENET cable directly to the phone we’re making it available via a publicly accessible link. To download it you need to install TestFlight from the App Store first and then use the link to download the beta version of the app.

Any issues, suggestions or just general feedback, please use the TestFlight app to send over.

Android version of the app is scheduled to go into beta tomorrow.

Ethernet settings for your iPhone/iPad (Optional if you'd like to set them, but it does connect to the car with these in place noticeably faster)
- IP: Manual (not automatic), 169.254.250.250
- Subnet Mask: 255.255.0.0

I've been using this update since yesterday and works great. No more WiFi agent to mess with and connection is instant. Great job guys!
