BMW Performance exhaust
Can anyone vouch for the Factory PE , the USD price ($880) and the X rate are attractive
But does it really add a lot more HP or is it relatively small. JD |

Did a search and found this thread..I'm also looking to get some BMW perf parts for my car.
Not sure I want to DIY the exhaust and SSK, so where's a good place in Sydney where I can both buy and have the parts fitted? I know you guys have Andrew at SouthernBM down in Melbourne who does a good job.

I love the sound of the car everyday. The fact that you don't have to rev the car to make the sound it is fantastic.

It was the second BMW Performance part I have added to my car and though I didn't dyno my car before when it was completely stock I returned 285 rwhp and 336rwtq with just the BMW Performance Power Kit and exhaust. I love my exhaust, I just wish it didn't lose sound once you start to pass 5000 rpm (but that's when we start losing power anyway). Its a good exhaust if you're warranty conscious. Personally, I'd like something alot louder in the near future, but if you're concerned about fitment and want something that's loud when you want it and not when you don't you can't go wrong with the Performance Exhaust. So many people who have heard my car go by swear that I have installed an aftermarket one, they can't believe it is a BMW part from BMW itself. It is a very sweet sounding exhaust and I am sure with downpipes and midpipes it will only sound sweeter if you plan to mod further in the future.

If you're warranty conscious, it's a great mod. If you're not so worried about the warranty, the Active Autowerke exhaust is sensational (the one on BMW86's car is spine tinglingly good).

can someone who knows please clarify, which segment of the exhaust is modified when installing the bmw performance exhaust?
cause i was under the impression it removes the resonator from the midpipe, but then a bmw dealer told me otherwise....... |

I wish I was technical so I could explain properly... I have just collected my stock exhaust from my dealer which was in 2 parts and one of the parts wouldn't fit in the trunk of my wife's C Class Mercedes!
The Perf exhaust is awesome though, the sound when cold is stunning, and IMO is loud enough without being too intrusive. I also have the SSK which is very good and a welcome addition, adding most shorter and sharper shifts. But, if I had the choice of one BMW Performance part, it would easily be the exhaust!

I imported the PE exhaust for my 135i from Dan @ United for US$800 + shipping and fitted it myself. I paid nothing when it arrived because it was under A$1000. The limit of A$1000 does NOT include the cost of freight, just the item cost. Shipping was door to door and my total cost from memory was around A$1250.
The 125 PE exhaust is axleback only, so the resonators stay. The 135 PE exhaust has midpipes supplied, so it does remove the resonators. High quality stainless butt clamps are supplied because the standard exhaust must be cut for either car to fit a PE. Cutting for the 135i is harder because there is not much room. I bought a exhaust pipe cutter to do mine because doing that was still going to be less expensive than having it fitted by someone else.

man dealers are stupid, i knew it when i was on the phone with him.
I repeatedely asked him like 3 TIMES i said so NOTHING is cut from the midpipe? Hes like nah i got a mechanic here who did one last year says it wasn't, it was after the midpipes. anyway whatever, no biggy, they were useless to me anyway, I was trying to ask them for any customers stock midpipe part that had had the performance exhaust put on but since they'd done like 1 in a year, I don't see the chances lol |
