Talking New wheels!

I recently upgraded the wheels on my 2012 X5 to style 310 reps in 20". I was pretty much set on getting OZ wheels but with tirerack's delivery date being pushed out by a month I decided to go with the 310's after seeing the 22" version here.

I put on Nitto Invo summer tires. I decided to get these over the Vreds because of the sale at Discounttire. The ride is quite firm, almost the same as my 19" RFT's, not what I was expecting. The handling is great though.

Gave the X5 a wash today and decided to do a photo shoot.

Here's the obligatory butt shot!

Just so the X5's lil sis doesn't get jealous, here's one of her.

Beautiful, and lovely pictures. Definitely a good choice on the wheels. I find the 22s a bit large, and probably would like to get these in 21" size if I'd get them. They look really classy in 20" though.

After reading your X5 detail thread I went ahead and bought Menzerna's 2500 to do a one step polish and was able to get 80% of swirls out, my first time polishing too! Also did paint correction on the 335i and will post pics of that soon.

21" would've been perfect but the restricted tire choice steered me away.

Definitely looking forward to seeing some pics of the detail. Glad that PF2500 worked out for you. Which pads did you use, and on what machine?

I did notice there was some polish left over on the plastic cladding in your pictures. In order to prevent that from staining, I'd use some APC to remove it ASAP...

I used Harbor Freight's DA polisher with their polishing and cutting pad. I used some general household cleaner on the plastic but that didn't remove the stains so will try the APC now.

I got them from wheelfactoryinc on ebay. Unfortunately, their quality control is not great. One of the rear wheels I received had a noticeable 'hop' to it when put on the balancer, and they made me jump through hoops to prove to them that it was indeed defective before sending out a replacement which had a small but noticeable blemish on one of the spokes. I'm still waiting on the refund for the deposit I put down for it.

That is unfortunate to hear, but I suppose it comes with the territory when buying reps on eBay. I hope you get the wheels in the intended quality and that the seller won't make too big of a fuss about it. Otherwise, I say you leave them some negative feedback. But I'd react the same way you did: you pay for a product and you expect is to be perfect.

i love these wheels. i chose to go with 22" option with larger pirelli, and i am very content with the ride. your look fantastic and the tire tread looks almost like its meant for a sport car rather than an suv.

Sheesh.

If it were me, I'd have all 4 wheels on the way back to them after that nonsense.

Your car pics convinced me to go with these wheels, and they look even better in person!

I love the aggressive tread pattern of these tires, they handle great too but ride a bit stiff.

That's exactly what I wanted to do but after spending $$ in mounting, dismounting and remounting, I just decided to keep them. One thing's for sure, this will be my first and last set of reps.

My reps have no imperfections at all and balance true and straight. You might have gotten a set that wasn't properly inspected

its a crap shoot - those damn 10 year old chinese kids who make those things aren't always on the ball when it comes to quality control.
